Description:

The buds are elongated-conical, pointed or blunt, often sticky. The bud scales are arranged imbricatedly, tightly pressed at the edges, slightly ciliated (the lower ones are shorter than the upper ones and sometimes with slightly protruding tips); the buds are 3-7 mm long and 1.5-3 mm in diameter. The color is brown.
The base is sometimes greenish. The aroma is balsamic and pleasant. The taste of the aqueous extract is slightly astringent and resinous. Birch buds contain essential oil, resins, tannins, flavonoids, saponins, and other biologically active substances.
