Pharmacological action:
Ascorbic acid, vitamin C, is a water-soluble vitamin, due to which ascorbic acid does not remain in the body for a long time and is easily excreted by the kidneys. Ascorbic acid is involved in very important biochemical reactions in the human body every day, due to which it performs very important functions for humans, some of which are detoxification and antioxidant.
Functions of ascorbic acid:
1. Antioxidant. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, due to which it regulates oxidation-reduction processes in the body and prevents the harmful effects of free radicals on the components of the cell membrane and the contents of the cells. In addition, ascorbic acid is necessary for the restoration of other antioxidants, such as vitamin E and vitamin A.
2. Detoxifying. Ascorbic acid neutralizes many toxic substances, such as heavy metals, tobacco smoke, pathogen toxins and many other toxins and poisons.
3. Construction. Vitamin C is necessary for the synthesis of collagen and procollagen, which are necessary for the formation of connective tissue in the human body.
4. Enzymatic and hormonal. Ascorbic acid is necessary for the synthesis of many enzymes and hormones, including adrenaline.
5. Ascorbic acid promotes the absorption of iron in the gastrointestinal tract, due to which hemoglobin is normally synthesized in the body.
6. Protective. Vitamin C helps improve immunity and the body's resistance to various infections, including viral ones.
7. Anti-atherosclerotic. Under the influence of ascorbic acid, the amount of harmful cholesterol in the body, which is part of low- and very low-density lipoproteins (LDL and VLDL), decreases and the content of beneficial cholesterol, which is part of high-density lipoproteins (HDL), increases, thereby preventing the development of atherosclerotic plaques on the walls of blood vessels. Moreover, under the influence of vitamin C, cholesterol is normalized, i.e. its amount decreases with excess and increases with deficiency.
A tasty and healthy treat - ascorbic acid with sugar, enriched with vitamin C. The bright sweet and sour taste is familiar from childhood, and the benefits are relevant at any age. Supports immunity, helps fight colds, improves metabolism and strengthens blood vessels.
